The Board shall carry out regulatory functions and such as other activities necessary, advantageous or proper for the benefit of the pyrethrum industry. In doing so, the Board will perform the following functions:
To advice the Government on matters arising from the stakeholders meeting of strategy and policy related to the development of the pyrethrum industry.
To enforce regulations for control of pests and diseases.
To issue licenses to persons engaged in production, buying, and marketing of pyrethrum.
To represent the Government in local and international fora in matters relating to the pyrethrum industry.
To ensure fair trade, competition and monitor prices as determined by market forces.
To enforce quality standards for production and processing of Pyrethrum.
Specifically the Board shall perform the following
To consider and advise the Minister upon measures for the promotion, development and regulation of the pyrethrum industry;
To receive, consider and advice the Minister upon any recommendations advanced by Pyrethrum Producers of their Association in the interest of the pyrethrum industry;
Subject to the approval of the Minister to conduct or finance research and experiments directly or through agents in any matter relating to the pyrethrum industry;
To make regulations for control of pests and diseases;
To issue export licenses and determine the conditions for issuing such licenses;
Generally to exercise the powers conferred and to carry out the duties imposed on it under the provisions of this Act or any rules made there under and to do all such things as in the opinion of the Board may be necessary, for the development of the pyrethrum industry.
